SRTF Charity was set up by a group of family members of people affected by Stroke and Brain Injury.

The focus of our charity is to provide education to people and their families/carers who are suffering or at risk of suffering brain tissue injury, as well as engaging in community awareness about brain tissue injury and also supporting medical research into treatment for brain tissue injury. There is a new treatment called Perispinal Etanercept available in the US with patients receiving this treatment having remarkable improvements in many areas – even years after the initial brain tissue injury.

Scientific studies evaluating this treatment are very positive with around 80% of those treated having significant improvements in mobility, speech, memory, and reductions in muscle spasticity and associated pain.
But for the treatment to be medically approved for use in Australia and other parts of the world, there is an urgent need for a rigorously conducted clinical trials.

SRTF charity was formed in 2015 to educate and support people affected by brain injury and stroke, and their families, raise community awareness and to support vital research.  All funds raised are used to support ongoing education  about how to avoid stroke, how to recognise stroke and treatment options. SRTF also supports and funds stroke research such as the world-first Griffith University School of Medicine  Persipinal Etanercept Treatment  Clinical Trial for Stroke patients completed in 2019.

SRTF will advertise future funding for stroke (and related) projects  and fund research projects based on strict selection criteria  and as selected by the SRTF Research Advisory Committee panel of independent experts.

Thank- you for your support,
